Medicine from the Land: Bioregional Herbalism with Logan Keister

Imagine a childhood filled with forest walks, foraging mushrooms, and picking wild berries straight from the land? That’s exactly the kind of magic Logan Keister grew up with—and in this episode of The Herbalist’s Path, we dive into how that experience shaped his path as a clinical herbalist.
Logan is the founder of Noti Botanica, where he offers herbal consultations, handmade remedies, and teachings rooted deeply in bioregional herbalism. His story is a powerful reminder that when we reconnect with the land, we reconnect with ourselves—and that plants truly are the best teachers.
A Life Shaped by the Forest
Logan grew up in Notii, Oregon, a small logging town surrounded by public lands. While many people see clearcuts and monoculture plantations, Logan learned to see the forest's full story—from blackberry-covered regrowth to old-growth cathedrals full of wild orchids and medicine.
As a kid, he thought mushroom hunting was just a “lame” family activity… until he realized how cool it actually was. Foraging with his parents became the foundation of his plant journey, and eventually, his clinical practice.
Teaching the Next Generation
One of the most powerful parts of this episode is our conversation about outdoor education. Logan works with underserved communities across Oregon, teaching kids who often don’t even own raincoats—or know that food grows on trees—that nature is safe, accessible, and full of wonder.
We talk about the heartbreak of nature disconnection, especially for kids in today’s world, and why teaching them about plants and ecosystems isn’t just healing—it’s necessary for our future.
From Skepticism to Clinical Practice
Logan shares his winding journey from high school dropout to clinical herbalist, including working at Mountain Rose Herbs, studying at Columbine School of Botanical Studies, and learning pulse diagnosis with other advanced practitioners.
We also get into the real talk of herbalism—the skepticism many of us face (even from ourselves), the power of intuition, and the magic that happens when a plant you know just works… actually does.
Logan’s Work & Herbal Consults
Today, Logan offers herbal consultations (both in-person and virtual), grows and wildcrafts nearly all the herbs in his products, and teaches through platforms like Herbal Academy and HerbRally. His medicine is small-batch, energetically attuned, and often astrologically timed—yes, really!

Learning From The Land
Logan’s story is a reminder that the land holds wisdom. That herbalism isn’t just about products—it’s about people, place, and presence. And that we each have the power to reconnect with the earth in a way that transforms our lives and our communities.
Whether you're just getting started or you're deep into your herbal path, this episode will leave you inspired to slow down, listen to the plants, and maybe even teach a kiddo (or two) about the beauty growing right outside their door.
